Rotating Equipment Repair has 42 years of experience performing repairs on high energy pumps. Our business was built by knowledgeable veterans from a major OEM. The repairs provided by RER are performed by some of the best tradespeople in their field utilizing the best and most current tools available to them in our facility. Every repair is reviewed by a team of our on staff degreed engineers. We don’t just understand how to replace parts, we understand how the entire process and pump design works. This allows us to not only isolate deficiencies in the pump design that are the root cause of your problems, but also to engineer a lasting solution to improve your up-time and reliability. This is the core of our business. We pride ourselves on engineering and manufacturing all of the parts that go into those repairs.

OUR PROCESS

SCOPE

Rotating Equipment Repair works closely with your team to determine a repair scope. Our sales representatives work with you whether it’s a simple rebuild, or a project full of engineered upgrades to make sure your needs are met. Any history regarding past repairs or operational problems will be collected at this time and handed off to the project engineer. Once we understand your expectations for the project, the next step is disassembly.

DISASSEMBLY

Once the project is released, the pump is then disassembled by our veteran pump technicians. This process is thoroughly documented with our disassembly sheets recording all the critical “as found” settings and measurements. Digital photos are also taken throughout the process for reference during quoting and engineering.

CLEANING

Disassembled components are carefully cleaned utilizing a combination of non-destructive methods. Components, where required, are abrasive blasted to remove rust scale and old paint so the structural integrity of the component can be verified. The shafting, bearing bores, and wear turns are cleaned and polished. Bearing housings are thoroughly cleaned in our parts washer and are not abrasive blasted to keep media from finding its way into finished assemblies.

INSPECTION AND QUOTE

Our engineering group performs a full visual, dimensional, and non-destructive inspection of the pump components. They then create a report which documents the “as found” condition of your pump. This report is accompanied by a firm quotation for your repair.

ENGINEERING

Once we receive approval to proceed, the project is then assigned to one of our experienced project engineers to produce all of the new parts and repair drawings. Any special work instructions are also written at that time. If any outside processes (chrome plating, heat treating, castings, etc.) are required, the project engineer works hand-in-hand with the outside vendor. The project engineer is in constant contact with your sales representative to make sure you have the latest updates available to you upon request.

MANUFACTURING

Once the job is released to manufacturing, an electronic process sheet is made. This is updated at every step of the process for each of your pump components. The process sheet is visible throughout the facility to all our employees on multiple monitors and is also accessible remotely to your sales representative. The process sheet is to keep the job status transparent through the entire project. On average, 95 cents of every project dollar is handled in-house by our experienced machinists, welders, and technicians. When a component goes to an outside vendor for part of the process, the project engineer follows those components and updates the process sheet on their status.

ASSEMBLY

Assembly is performed by some of the most talented and experienced assembly technicians in the industry. Rigorous QA processes are followed during this phase and the assembly is documented through digital pictures and process sheets. Typically, assemblies are done by a team of two technicians so they can peer check each other’s work. Our doors are always open to our customers to visit and witness the final assembly process. We can cater to any of your requests for final reports and documentation. Our assemblies are shipped with information cards containing critical notes to aid installation by your team or ours out in the field.

DIRECT LASER DEPOSITION (DLD)

DLD is used to bond a metal powder to the base material. This process allows you to retain the ductility of the base material, and have superb wear resistance and hardness on the material surfaces.
